5 Takeaways to Set Yourself Apart from the Competition
In the interview, Eileen talked about how there were so many fake or unreliable companies that were out there when they were first starting out.
But they did a few key things that really set themselves apart from the saturation, and resulted in a really strong community that supported them.
I break down the key takeaways below.

1. Care for your community
POPFit took about a year to finalize their plus sizes because they wanted to make sure they fit real bodies and look good.
"We didn't want to be like other brands where they kind of make the same fit of clothing but a little larger and slap a plus size label on it."
They knew they wanted to carefully craft clothing that actually fit plus size bodies, not just to say they had them, but because they cared about their community first before they even had that community.
What does your ideal audience have a struggle with and how can you nurture that through your product and service?
3. Be refreshingly authentic
In the beginning, there were tons of legging companies that they were competing with that were downright fake companies.
They stuck to what they knew, which was just being themselves. Eileen says they're all about being organic, which is exactly what you feel when you scroll through their social media or website.
3. Be unapologetic about what you believe in
It shocked some people to see body types that weren't "socially acceptable" and they even faced trolls & mean comments.
But their responses are why people love the brand so much. They believe in having body diversity in their media, so they will stand up for it in the comments.
Its better to be polarizing and have true followers that believe in what you do, than to try to please everybody.
4. Be relatable
"We want our models to reflect your best friend, your sister, your brother, I mean everybody."
I don't know about you, but I've shopped at some stores online where they use such unrealistic body types as their models that I don't end up buying anything. Why would I? I have no idea how it would look for my body because I don't look like that!
5. Listen to your customers
When thinking of new products, styles, and colors, they always listen to what their customers are asking for.
When I asked why they launched their sister underwear brand, Cheek Boss, Eileen says it was a response to customer requests. They already had their no-show thongs for their leggings, but their customers were asking them to make more styles and colors.
Now its your turn
Overall, POPFit has really nailed it when creating a brand that empowers women. We just love their message on body diversity, positivity and inclusivity.
In a time where new brands are popping up daily, new brands need to find a way to connect with their audience, and stand for something, or you risk blending in with the crowd.
