How to Quit Your Day Job and Become the Boss Babe You Were Meant To Be

Hey boss babe!

Do you daydream about leaving your job and going all in on your side hustle?

Maybe its a clothing company, or a blog, or an e-commerce store...

Whatever it is, if you have a burning desire to turn your passion into your career, then keep reading because I'm going to tell you when & if you should take the leap.

My Story & Mission

As someone who took that leap at the age of 24, I know how scary and challenging that decision and transition can be.

I went from working a stable, 9-5 salary desk job, with the 401k, health insurance, and alll the benefits a young college grad could ask for - but felt completely unhappy and unfulfilled!

To now co-operating a creative agency, with my fiancé, and being a blogger/content creator, who's so passionate about what I do, and is so excited every morning to get to "work".

Yes, that is possible.

And I believe more people, especially women, deserve to have that too.

But taking this major step is tough, and you have to be ready for it. Let's see if this is right for you.

Is taking the leap right for you?

I believe your natural instincts and capabilities are perfect for your own unique purpose in this world.

Some people work better under structure, organization, and with set tasks and systems that are already in place.

But some people work better by using their gut.

And taking charge to lead people to a vision.

And who love to use their creativity to come up with solutions

And is not afraid to overcome obstacles & challenges.

And is fueled by passion & purpose

the world needs what you have

Does this sound like you?

Or does this sound like someone you want to become?

Well then, boss babe, this messy entrepreneur life might just be for you.

Let's break down how you could take the leap from boring corporate job to full fledged freedom and entrepreneur life!

How to Leap

Working for yourself means that you're no longer guaranteed a salary, or a steady paycheck.

Instead, you're on the hook for all the income you create, which can be a lot of pressure, but it can also unlock huge potential.

But money can be a big concern during this transition. So let's break this down further.

The Side Hustle Method

A lot of (smart) people will work on their passion project outside of their 9-5.

This is an ideal way to get your passion business up & running before actually taking the leap.

Carve out some time every day to commit to working on your side business. Whether you have to wake up a little earlier, stay up later, or find some time during your lunch break to work on it, decide now that you will commit to working on your business.

It might take a little bit of time, and you may have to sacrifice some weekend plans, but stay consistent and focused and you will still get to where you want to go.

Then once you feel like the time is right to go all in, go for it!

I was not one of those smart people who worked on a side business before leaping.

No, I actually had no plans, but what I really needed at the time was to do a little soul searching that would eventually lead me to the path that I'm on now.

So if you're maybe a little lost like I was, and you don't have a plan, but continuing to work at your current job would just hurt your soul, then let's talk some other options.

The Full On Leap of Faith

Another option would be to quit your job cold turkey, so you then have the time and space to figure things out.

In the meantime, work with skills you already have that can help sustain you while you figure things out.

For example, do you have experience with graphic design on Canva or Photoshop? You can create graphics like YouTube thumbnails, logo designs, etc. on sites like Fiverr.

With the free time you have from that, you can start to explore some hobbies that you are interested in, and might develop a passion for.

This is the time for you to experiment with different things and what you can see yourself doing.

Or if you already have an idea, it's time to start building that brand or business and get it up & running and profitable as soon as possible.

Then you'd be doing your passion business full time - yay!

The Safety Cushion

If you decide to take the full on leap of faith like I did, it would be ideal to save up 3-6 months worth of expenses in the savings, or however long you would like to have or think it will take until you can live off your new career.

Then doing something on the side like I mentioned earlier, could supplement your savings and get you some more time until you need to be profitable.

However, don't use this as an excuse to never go full time on your passions. If you're serious about working for yourself, and creating a business you're passionate about, then make sure you set realistic timelines.

Sometimes it's good to have that a little bit of pressure. Remember, pressure makes diamonds, babe!

The Plan Z

Sometimes it helps to know if you have a plan Z in case sh*t just hits the fan and it all goes terribly.

If you lost everything, how bad would it really be?

Do you have anyone you can call for help?

Do you have an emergency fund or retirement savings?

Will you survive?

Not to say that you should use your retirement savings, or ask your friends and family for money all the time, but this is just to ease those worst case scenarios that might play out in your mind to try to keep you from doing anything big.

My motto is that everything is figure outable. Be confident in yourself that you would be able to learn the lessons, pick yourself back up and get back on track & better than ever before!

5 More Tips on Taking the Big Leap

If you've decided that working for yourself is the right path for you, then you're already halfway there!

The next part is just getting the courage to actually do it. It's a big life shift so, of course, it might feel a little scary - and that is totally normal!

Everything you want is on the other side of fear

Here are 5 tips that will help you get through that fear and go towards that life you've been dreaming about!

1. Lean on faith

Having faith is an important step to being courageous.

It could just mean having faith in yourself and trusting that you will overcome any obstacles, and figure things out, and work hard until you get there.

It could mean having faith in your intuition, in G-d, in the Universe, in Source, in angels. Whatever you believe in, lean on that.

And ask for guidance, ask for help.

you have what it takes

2. Do it for yourself

If at first, people closest to you don't understand or support you, that's okay! They don't have to be.

You don't need permission from anyone to start living a life that you love.

Be confident in your choices, and know why you're doing what you're doing.

Because when friends & family start questioning what you're doing, you won't be second guessing yourself.

3. Surrender

Your own expectations can sometimes block you from receiving what you want in ways you didn't think of.

Surrender to what happens, however it wants to happen.

Just set the intention that you are going to get through this transition and live out your best life possible.

And let things come to you naturally.

4. Follow

Follow your instincts, your gut, your intuition, whatever you wanna call it.

Follow that!

That is what will guide you toward making the right next move for yourself, and your business.

When you start something new, you're not going to have everything all figured out, that's impossible.

But when you get still in meditation or journaling and ask for guidance, answers will start coming to you and your next steps will become clear.

5. Welcome change

Change is just a part of life. It's a part of nature. Seasons change, planets orbit, life always goes on.

But when we get into the same old routines and habits, we get used to not having change. We become afraid of it.

But really, change can be exciting!

Like, an adventure, where you don't know what's in store for you around the corner, but maybe some really awesome opportunities that will change your life for the better!

Final thoughts

Not everyone is cut out to be their own boss. But if the thought has crossed your mind multiple times or you have a deep desire of running your own business, then it's probably there for a reason!

Your services might be the answer to someone else's prayers, so it would be a disservice not to provide that to the world.

Remember, the world needs what you carry. And what is on your heart is there for a reason.

Now go out there and shine your light! Because we need you!
