Confidence is a great quality to have. However, as Tracking Happiness points out, becoming confident can be notoriously difficult. It may be easy to act confident on the outside, but feeling confident on the inside is much more important.
Luckily, there are many steps you can take to become a more confident version of yourself, such as working out, eating healthily, relaxing when necessary, and practicing positive thinking. Here are four steps to becoming more confident, written by Joyce Wilson presented by The Judy Diaries.
1. Start Working Out
Exercise is extremely important for your body, mind, and confidence. When you work out, your body releases endorphins, which naturally make you happier and more confident. Just by adding gym sessions or a run around a nearby park to your routine, the American Psychological Association says you can enhance your mood.
Exercise is also a great way to lose weight and tone muscles. While changing your appearance needn't be the main aim of your workout routine, getting in shape can definitely help you build a bit of confidence.
Additional benefits of exercise include:
Inflammation reduction
Natural reduction of stress and depression
Increase in self-esteem
2. Relax as Much as Possible
Being stressed out and on the go constantly leaves you little time to focus on self-care and wellness activities that make you feel confident. This is especially true when you don’t take care of yourself due to work overload, something that may lead to illness or burnout.
Whether it's putting on some nice clothes, going for a walk outside in the sunshine, or meditating, take time to relax and focus on yourself. Because relaxing promotes clear thinking and focus, it improves your ability to calmly tackle problems that arise. This increased composure can make you more confident in your ability to handle life's hurdles.
3. Practice Positive Thinking
A positive mindset often goes hand-in-hand with self-confidence. After all, without positivity, how are you supposed to feel confident? That's why it's important to practice self-care and combat any negative thoughts you may have about yourself.
Allowing yourself to think positively about who you are and what you have to offer eventually leads you to your own self-fulfilling prophecy. For example, if you believe you're a funny and kind person, eventually you become confident in social situations.
Often, attending therapy sessions is a great way to improve your mindset.
4. Save Some Money
One common cause of insecurity is poor financial stability, something many people are facing following the pandemic. When you don't have savings in the bank, it's easy to question your success, which can lead to a lack of confidence.
By saving some money, you can improve your feelings of self-worth and accept yourself as the successful person you are.
One way to save money is to refinance your home. Refinancing allows you to tap the equity in your home to free up cash and/or reduce your monthly mortgage payment.
Other ways to save money include:
Start budgeting
Eat out less often
Limit online shopping

Confidence is a difficult trait to master. However, taking time to start a fitness routine, relax, practice positive thinking, and save money are great ways to build confidence.
